Can it really find studs?
StudSignal detects the magnetic response of metal fasteners — screws, nails, and metal studs create a strong signal. The app shows relative magnetic strength, not absolute position, so you know *where* the signal is strong, not *exactly* where to drill. Always verify with dedicated tools and common sense before drilling.
What about live wiring?
StudSignal cannot detect live electrical wiring or wood itself. Before drilling, always use a dedicated electrical tester to check for live wires in the wall. Metal studs and fasteners create the signals you see; AC wiring does not.
Where is my data stored?
All scans, labels, notes, and measurements are stored only on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server. If you delete the app, your data is deleted with it. Back up important scans by exporting them before uninstalling.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings inside the app and tap 'Restore Purchases'. As long as you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy StudSignal, the app unlocks again at no charge — including on a new device.
Can I use it without an account?
Yes. There's no sign-up, no login, and no ads. You can use StudSignal entirely on your own. No account is needed to save and revisit scans.
