How to use Tally

Create a counter

Tap the + button in the top-right, give your counter a name, set the starting value and step, then save.

Count up or down

Use the + and − buttons on each counter to increase or decrease by your chosen step.

Set the step size

When creating or editing a counter, set the step from 1 to 1000 to count by any amount.

Reset to zero

Long-press the count number and confirm to reset that counter back to 0.

Rename a counter

Long-press the counter's title to rename it at any time.

Delete a counter

Swipe left on a counter in the list to remove it.

View period summaries

Switch to the Summaries tab to see daily, weekly, or monthly counts in a graph. Compare multiple counters side-by-side.

Export as CSV or PDF

Export your counter data for use in spreadsheets or reports. Share as email attachment or save to Files.

Tag your counters

Add tags (location, date, project) when creating counters. Filter and search by tag to find what you need quickly.

Count from lock screen

On iOS 17+, enable Live Activity for a counter to count from your lock screen without opening the app.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data synced to the cloud?
No. All your counters are stored only on your device. There is no iCloud sync and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Is there a limit to how high I can count?
You can count well beyond everyday needs. The step size can be set from 1 to 1000 for fast counting.
Does Tally have ads or in-app purchases?
No. Tally is completely free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no account required.
How do I reset a counter?
Long-press the count number, then confirm. The counter returns to 0.
How do I rename a counter?
Long-press the counter's title and enter a new name.
Is my data backed up?
Data lives only on your device. If you delete the app, your counters are removed, so note down anything important.
